MEDICARE SUPPLEMENT

What is Medicare supplement insurance?

Medicare supplement policies (Also called medi-gap plans) help cover the costs original medicare does not cover. Costs such as, your deductible, co-insurance and emergency care outside of the country. Federal law requires that all Medicare supplement plans have the same benefits. There are 10 standard Medicare supplement plans, ranging from A to N. Below is a list of benefits for each plan. There are a several companies offering medicare supplement plans. The specific plans are exactly the same. For example, a plan G from one company will be exactly the same as a the plan G from another company.

*  High deductible plans are offered for F and G. For high deductible plans, you must pay Medicare costs up to the deductible of $2,490 (for 2022). 

* Plans C and F are not available to those who became eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020.

* For Plans K and L, once you meet your out-of-pocket yearly part B deductible limit, the Medicare supplement policy will pay 100% of covered services for the rest of the year. 

* Plan N pays 100% of part B coinsurance except for a $50 co-payment for emergency room visits and $20 for some doctor office visits that do not require inpatient admission.
